An eco-friendly and minimal waste toothbrush made from MOSO bamboo, an environmentally sustainable timber, and BPA-free polymer bristles.
Contrary to many assertions about bamboo toothbrushes being '100% biodegradable', there are no bristles currently on the market, other than boar (pig) hairs, which are biodegradable, so you just need to pull out your bristles or snap off the end before you compost or reuse your handle.
The best? There's also an incredibly practical Bamboo Toothbrush Travel Case for on the road. No more plastic cases or free-roaming of your toothbrush in your toiletries bag.
Invented by a Brisbane dentist and made by Mieco, an Australian business, in China using Fair Trade bamboo from local farmers. Bamboo is an abundant fast-growing grass which is harvested after 3 - 5 years. It then regenerates naturally with minimal rain and without the need for pesticides - a renewable, sustainable resource.
The choice of bamboo also tries to respect the main food source of China’s Giant Panda - bamboo is abundant, and they don't tend to like the MOSO type of bamboo.
The Toothbrush is approximately 17.5cm long and comes in a Soft or Medium Bristle. The Travel Case is approximately 21cm long, 3cm wide and 3cm deep.
Rinse and dry your toothbrush after use to help keep it clean. Most dentists recommend changing your toothbrush every one - three months (4-12x per year).
Both your Toothbrush and Travel Case come in a cardboard box, which can be repurposed, recycled or composted. When your toothbrush is done, if you have a set of pliers handy, pull out the bristles or if you don't, cut off the head closest to the bristles and dispose of this bit in your regular waste bin. The handle can then be repurposed or given lovingly to your compost.
