Made by Australian company, Coconut Bowls, in workshops in Vietnam and Indonesia. They source discarded coconut shells from farms and plantations throughout South East Asia and transport to their workshop where each coconut shell is cut, sanded and cleaned before being finished with an organic coconut oil polish.
Coconut Bowls support fair trade practices and sustainability, and they donate products around the globe to replace and reduce the use of plastics.
All Coconut Bowls will vary slightly in volume but on average they hold 500 - 600 ml (16 - 18 oz), and are around 13cm in diameter and 6cm deep.
As they are natural and hancrafted, Coconut Bowls will always be different and no two are the same. Each one will have unique markings and imperfections.
Hand wash with lukewarm soapy water. Do not use in the dishwasher or soak for a long period of time. They are best suited to room temperature and cool foods. They can also be fragile, so please be careful not to drop your Coconut Bowl, as it is likely to crack.
On rare occasions hot foods may cause the Coconut Bowl to crack, so for warmer foods to ensure durability, prepare your bowl for the change in temperature by first rinsing your bowl in lukewarm water and sit aside until dry.
Polish with virgin coconut oil (or a plant-based oil of your choice) every 10 or so uses to restore the surface and re-seal its pores.
