Made for Australian company, Import Ants, ethically in Sri Lanka by Maximus - a company which started in 1997 to meet the need for employment in rural areas and for the conservation of the endangered Sri Lankan elephant. In areas where there is conflict between the wild elephants and farmers, the production of the paper brings the elephant into the economy of the village and directly contributes to villagers' incomes, providing sustainable employment and reducing the need to clear more land in these elephant migration corridors for subsistence farming.
