These hand crafted cord cases are made by Australian company Live Softly in Nepal. Live Softly seeks to embody a new way of living that looks after the earth and the people on it, and they believe conscious design and mindful purchasing can change the world.
To make these conscious cases, they partnered with designers and marginalised craftspeople of a Leprosy charity in Nepal. The charity provide employment, housing and medical support to suffers of leprosy and their families, enabling them to both learn a craft and earn an income.
Hand felting is an ancient technique using wool, soap and water to mat the fibres around a mould. Their cases are felted in one piece and seam free - so there are no seams to rip and zero waste of fibre in the making process.
The case is approximately 18.5cm long, 10cm wide and 2cm deep. It can carry laptop and phone cords, glasses or sunglasses. It will fit an iphone 6+ or other bits and pieces you want to be easily accessible in your bag.
You can use a clothes brush to freshen your case and spot clean any marks with tiny amount of water and soap.
This case should have a very long life but when it's finally time for it to be disposed of, remove the metal clip before cutting the wool into smaller strands for your compost. Recycle the metal clip at a scrap metal recycler.
All New Zealand wool is required to adhere to strict ethical farming guidelines, and the wool is dyed using AZO free dyes.
