Even though glass is made from natural compounds, it should not be placed in your compost for safety reasons, and while it can technically be recycled, it can be challenging to find somewhere where glass is being actively recycled in Australia, and which will accept this type of glass (or any broken bits).
You can check with your local council to see if you can pop it straight into your glass-friendly kerbside Recycling Bin (for example, in Waverley Council and Byron Shire Council you can't do this, but in Lismore Council you can pop it straight into your Yellow Bin), or you will hopefully be able to find a recycling centre close to you which will accept glass, and many other items that can technically be recycled but which are not accepted in your local council's kerbside bins. In NSW and VIC, Bingo Recycling Centres will recycle your glass as well as other waste streams - you can find one here.
The lid is made using a combination of bamboo, silicone (to stop it leaking), plastic and metal, and it's not likely to be easily separated, but if you can safely do it, you could compost/recycle/redirect each component separately.If separating the lid is not for you, you can send this and the silicone components, being the sleeve and inner liner of the lid, back to us to separate and redirect components as best we can. The Hemp Pouch has a polypropylene liner for durability, which can be separated and recycled via REDcycle drop-off points. The Hemp outer and rope of the pouch can then be lovingly reused or added to your compost, and the Bottle Brush can be added to your compost too. Once the bristles have broken down, you can sift out the metal and recycle it.
